About Us

At Green Dinner Table, our mission is to make eating vegan easy, delicious, and accessible for households across Aotearoa New Zealand. By delivering fresh ingredients and chef-designed recipes straight to your door, we empower people to make positive changes for their health, for animals, and for the planet.

 

Our Story

Green Dinner Table was founded in Ōtautahi Christchurch by Tom Riley and Chris Kappely, who combined their passion for great food, health, and sustainability to create New Zealand’s first vegan meal box service. From day one, they worked with local growers and food producers, using seasonal ingredients and prioritising recyclable and biodegradable packaging wherever possible.

Their vision was simple: to help more people discover how easy and rewarding plant-based eating can be. That vision continues today.

 

Led by Flip Grater

Today, Green Dinner Table is proudly owned and led by Flip Grater, a well-known name in Aotearoa’s plant-based food scene.

Flip is the founder of Grater Goods, Christchurch’s celebrated vegan bistro and delicatessen. She is passionate about great food, community, and creating positive change for people, animals, and the planet.

With Flip at the helm, Green Dinner Table builds on its strong foundations while continuing to innovate, collaborate, and inspire.

Both Green Dinner Table and Grater Goods remain unique in their own right but share a common goal: to make plant-based living easy, exciting, and accessible.
